Autumn Break, Poland Part 2: Lublin

Up next, Lublin.  We spent two days here mainly so we could go to Majdanek, but more on that further on in the post.

It was fun to see all kinds of public art around town.  Of course, we don't read Yiddish or Hebrew or Polish, so we don't fully understand what they all meant.

However, we for sure understand this public statement.  That's commitment to your message.

The Old Town was beautiful, including the Castle.  We learned that during the Holocaust the Castle became a prison.  We also learned how historically Jews lived outside the Old Town.  You can see the "gate" they would enter when coming to trade.

And, Sam got her Insta photo shots plus her jokingly stepping on the unlucky stone.

The "highlight" of our trip to Lublin was going to Majdanek, the Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp.  This is why I had a hard time visiting Poland.  Here we were as "war tourists" looking at the tragedies of our past, but, then again, shouldn't we?  This was an awesome experience, and not in the happy way.

Let's end on a happy note, shall we?  We had some good food in Lublin, including cheeseburgers at Munchies.  It is here we also discovered the best donuts I've ever had...until we had them again in Krakow.
