Another Day in Sweden

Sixteen.  Dang.  How did we get here?  Well, we are in Sweden because of this kid, so celebrating her sweet sixteen here seems extra special.  She had a little break in her school schedule this AM, so we went out for fika to begin the celebrations. At home, we always decorate the dining room the night before so when the kids wake up they feel celebrated.  I tried my best here in Sweden.   Most cakes in Sweden are covered with a marzipan fondant, so we had to special order hers because of her nut allergy.  We went to a baker y that was founded in 1902.  Wow!  We learned that "grattis" is used for birthdays or for a congratulatory event.  Always learning! Raspberry filling - perfect for the girl that spends late summer in or raspberry bush at home. Sixteen in Sweden is going to be sweet.  Yeah, she may not be able to drive, but what a year she will have.

  Good Lord.  This feels like déjà vu.  Didn't I just post a picture of us in the same airport, with the same bags, going off for a year?  Here we are seven years later, this time to Sweden.  Izzy opted out to stay home because, well, the kid is in college!  How did that happen?  I mean weren't we just here?  We'll see her when she visits in spring. So, in my feeble attempt to document the year I'm reviving the blog.  I know, who blogs anymore?  .  Here's to a great year!
